You’ve Got the Power (to Pitch): Recap of Our Master Class Webinar
Kat Weaver, founder of the Power to Pitch consulting company, is well-suited by experience to help brand founders perfect their presentations — whether they are pitching to investors, for grants, or preparing to compete in Naturally Chicago's upcoming Pitch Slam.
So it was no surprise that Kat’s own presentation at Naturally Chicago’s March 13 webinar, “Power to Pitch: 10 Keys to a Successful Pitch,” was a master class.
Kat assists entrepreneurs in craft winning pitches, decks and fundraising strategies — and she's helped founders raise more than $35 million (and counting!).
After scaling and successfully exiting her first company (which she started in her college dorm), she won 24 pitch competitions before launching Power to Pitch to help other founders succeed.
Clicking the button below will take you directly to the recording of Kat’s presentation, which we highly recommend you watch if you are in pitch mode. Feel free to share it with other founders who might be interested in her expert advice.
We’re not going to give too much away, because we want you to view the full recording. But here are Kat’s 10 Keys to a Successful Pitch.
1) DON’T TREAT THE AUDIENCE AS IF THEY WERE A CUSTOMER
2) INCLUDE YOUR STORY (EVERY FOUNDER HAS A UNIQUE STORY)
3) AVOID OVER-SHARING
4) AVOID BUZZWORDS
5) PREPARE AND ASK QUESTIONS TO ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE
6) CRAFT YOUR PITCH SCRIPT BEFORE CREATING ANY VISUAL MATERIALS
7) HAVE A CLEAR, SPECIFIC ASK
8) ALWAYS EXPLAIN WHY YOU’RE QUALIFIED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM
9) REMEMBER THAT A ‘NO’ MIGHT BE A ‘FUTURE YES’
10) DO THOROUGH RESEARCH ON POTENTIAL INVESTORS/GRANTS BEFORE PITCHING
