It’s summer — time for outdoor fun — and Naturally Chicago invites you to join us for something completely different: an evening on the lawn of Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion to watch Shemekia Copeland, regarded by many critics as the greatest female blues vocalist of our time.
The event takes place on Monday, July 31, and admission is free. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m.
A Naturally Chicago scout team will arrive early to stake out space, but it’s recommended that you arrive early to make sure you can sit with the group.
The concert will open with the Martha Redbone Roots Project. The event site says, “Martha Redbone, a vocalist, songwriter, composer, educator, along with her longtime collaborator and husband Aaron Whitney and family band of funkateers, play Afro-Indigenous Americans music” that “gives voice to social justice issues and celebrates the human spirit.”
As for Shemekia Copeland, if you know you know. If you’ve never seen her perform, you owe it to yourself.
